Accountability

Merry Christmas!

I hope that you thoroughly enjoyed your day, and you (and your stomach) are full!

My Christmas was relaxing, which is JUST the way I like it.  Started the morning with a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios and did about 20 minutes of Pilates. Before I knew it, it was time to eat our Christmas dinner!

There was cornbread dressing, Cornish hen, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, and a slew of dessert.

What did I eat?  Cornbread dressing, Cornish hen, mac and cheese, collard greens, and German chocolate cake. Duh.

I ate what I wanted but I watched my portions. I weighed each of those foods (except the greens, since they're 0 points) so that I knew EXACTLY how many points I was consuming.

I even did about 100 jump ropes about an hour after I ate.

I took a nap this afternoon (about 30 minutes after I jump roped) before I hit up the gym for an hour and ten minute cardio sesh. I ran about 20 minutes and used the elliptical for the rest of the time.

I NEVER would have thought I would spend part of my Christmas in the gym, and I definitely did NOT think I would weigh my food.

What makes this Christmas different from any other Christmas? Well, the fact that I have a goal in mind.  They say once you see results it becomes an addiction. With my NSV last week, I definitely can say I'm addicted.  Not to mention, the fact that I won my first DietBet yesterday was all the more motivation to watch what I eat and keep dropping the pounds.

I also vowed to weigh in tomorrow. Yeah, I'm weighing the day after Christmas. I must be crazy, right?

My goal is to have lost 25 pounds (that is, weigh 180.2 or less)! Even if I don't reach my goal tomorrow, I still have until Tuesday to accomplish my goal before the year is out!  I am proud to say that this evening I was 180.2, so the chances of me reaching my goal tomorrow look pretty darn good!

I can honestly say that DietBet has been the greatest incentive!  Although I only had to lose 7.6 pounds in my first DietBet, I lost 11.4 pounds.  Did I mention that I saw a new decade for the first time yesterday when I weighed out?! OH MY GOSH! Talk about feeling accomplished! I will do a DietBet4 every month until graduation (in addition to the DietBet10). The incentive is just too great to pass up. And I'm not worried about gaining the weight back either--WeightWatchers is good for that!

Today, though, I noticed that it was harder for me to burn 500 calories in the gym.  I started off on the elliptical and for some reason, it was hard for me to get my heart rate up into the fat burning zone. I ended up increasing the resistance and I eventually got my heart rate up. But after 45 minutes on the elliptical, I decided to run.

And speaking of running...I NEVER thought I would run on a treadmill.  Two years ago, I was doing well just to walk at 4mph on an incline. It's AMAZING what you can accomplish with the right attitude--and the right workout shoes!

But like I said, I am noticing that my body is getting used to cardio so it's about time to switch it up.

That's where Insanity Max:30 comes in! I decided to start the program Monday! I'm looking forward to seeing great results.

I finished 13 days of exercise today--8 more days and I will have made exercising a habit.

Who am I? I don't know but I like who I am becoming.
